赫卡泰奥斯环形山(Hecataeus)是位于月球正面东南边沿附近一座古老的大撞击坑，约形成于酒海纪[1]，其名称取自古希腊历史学家及地理学家米利都的赫卡泰奥斯(公元前550年-公元前490年)，1935年被国际天文联合会正式批准接受。

该陨坑西侧毗邻巴尔末环形山；北面靠近贝海姆环形山；吉布斯环形山位于它的东北；东侧坐落着斯科尔环形山；
巨大的洪堡环形山横亘在南面；西南则是菲利普斯环形山。修长的洪堡链坑延伸在赫卡泰奥斯环形山的东北
[2]。该陨坑的中心月面坐标为22°04′S 79°41′E / 22.06°S 79.68°E / -22.06; 79.68，直径133.7公里[3]，深度2.94公里[1]。
赫卡泰奥斯环形山是一座已侵蚀和磨损的环壁平原，内侧壁较为宽阔。它的北侧壁覆盖了卫星坑"赫卡泰奥斯 K"的一半，而东侧内壁则嵌入了数座圆碗状的小陨坑，现保存最完整的是西侧坑壁，但也已有所磨损。赫卡泰奥斯环形山坑壁平均高出周边地形1660米[1]，内部容积约有19396公里3[1]。碗状的坑底崎岖不平，南半部布满洪堡环形山抛射出的碎岩，而北半部地表大部分较为平坦。
